Bruno's long throw weapon to be used sparingly

Bruno twice used his long throw at Burnley Bruno twice used his long throw at Burnley

Albion want to catch out Championship rivals with an extra weapon – Bruno’s surprise long throw.

But Gus Poyet will not be turning his Spanish defender into another Rory Delap.

The Seagulls noted right-back Bruno has a long throw during their pre-season programme.

The summer signing from Valencia hurled the ball into the opposition penalty area a couple of times during Albion’s last outing at Burnley.

Delap is synonymous with a low trajectory throw which caused havoc to defences and used to provide lots of goals for Stoke but Albion will only exploit the tactic sparingly.

Boss Gus Poyet said: “We don’t have the players to go crazy with it, so we are not going to use it constantly.

“If we had a player like (Peter) Crouch then maybe we would use it more. It is an option but without changing our style completely.

“We saw it in a few pre-season games, even with throw-ins from the middle of the park. It’s a great option to have.”

Scraping the bottom of the barrel Mr. Naylor?

A story about what Gus will not do, interesting.

Is there any chance that you could make a phone call and get the latest on those with injuries?

You do tend to ask a lot of questions Vegas.

What story do you want to hear about Gus? He has spoken clearly in the article.

And why is it so important for you to know about the injuries, and what difference can you make by reading minute to minute updated report from the medical staff?

And why do you need to have a go at Andy Naylor for publishing something that is good to know?

I thinks it's one of the more interesting stories in a very uneventful week of Albion news.

Seconded.
For those of us who can't readily buy the Argus it would be helpful if this website carried even an edited version of some reports..
I for one get a little frustrated when stories which are trailed and sound of interest are not available to those of us who can only receive this 'electronic' version of the Argus.
I would be grareful if any Posters on here could briefly summarise what the Argus report says about getting another striker in on loan.

It looks like the Albion management are going into Friday's game holding cards close to chest and giving the opposition no clues.

Hoveite I think you answered your own question.

You just popped out and got an Argus, none of us expats can do that, but just like we are hungry for news on our team.

Sir if you are not interested in the progress of our injured players, what does interest you regarding the squad.

Just two days to go before our next challenge and you don't think that fans should be interested in the condition of those injured.

Yes I do ask a lot of questions, why, well because I am a fan and I want to absorb all that I can from 6,000 miles away.

Yes I do contribute a lot of posts on here, that's because I want o be involved in the only way I can, through those thata post and people like Naylor who supply the info.

Unless you one day find yourself starved of that which you crave you will never know what it means to people like me in America or those in Greece, Spain, France, Cyprus and many other countries around the world.

What is good about knowing that Bruno will not use his long throw very often?

On the, "good to know," scale how does the news about Bruno's throw stack up against finding out if Vicente is available for selection?

I'm more relaxed about the Vicente silence as we have some exciting midfield options and two fit, quick wide men. Friday night is my first game of the season as my partner booked our holiday without any fixture investigation, although it was in January. Only two more sleeps!

Firstly Vegas, I kindly went out to get the Argus to see if there was any more news in it for you. And just for your information, although we live near the Amex, unfortunately none of us are based there or are privy to extra inside information. I could be on the moon and still enjoy the same information as what I have sat here in Hove or you in Vegas.

I do not need to know the specifics of injuries, when we have a strong squad, and I am only interested in who is fit. What benefit does going into extra medical detail on a couple of injured players do for you or us?

And don't answer my question with a question.

p.s. I could tell from your first post it was intentionally lined to progress to being aimed at a Vicente.

Unfortunately according to the Report on here yesterday titled 'Poyet aims for Top 9 finish' the news about Vicente's injury and the club's plans for signing on loan a target man striker were published in Yesterday's Argus
If anybody read these stories I would still be grateful for a brief summary.

For what it's worth I found this article interesting. Not seen Brighton take a long throw since Gus arrived and did not realise that Bruno was a possible option. I am sure Gus wants to keep the opposition guessing from time to time so not sure that daily updates on the fitness of Vicente is particularly necessary. Cannot blame Naylor for some of the articles he has to write - for day to day issues, the club dictates what gets published and what is kept in-house.

Hovite says...

Thanks Phantom I thought I was going mad.

That's ok ballantrrae, I know they said there will be a story about Vicente and a possible late signing in the printed version today. Not everything goes to plan and they might have just simply missed the print deadline but will probably be in it tomorrow.

All stories do eventually appear on here on the day of print.

I just read what is put in front of me and I can't see the reason in getting agitated when something doesn't arrive.

I had noticed that Bruno had a long throw. Not many goals came from Kerry Mayo's long throw though. About one a year. As the near post defending from corners is still a bit naff, it is a useful tactic.
