Gus: We put on a show

Gus Poyet believes Albion put on a show at The Amex.
And he picked out Bruno’s work to create a goal for Craig Mackail-Smith as a highlight.
Mackail-Smith scored his fifth goal of the season as Albion beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-0.
Poyet said: “People are coming to watch you. They want you to win but we try to give something as well, we try to show some quality.
“It was spectacular (by Bruno).
“The interception, the decision to go forward, the dribble through the legs, the strength, the composure on the ball to wait for Macca to make the run and just place it in front of him. Perfection.”
Poyet described Dean Hammond’s display as “outstanding” on his return to Albion.
The Albion boss said: “Now we go from there.
“It is about doing the same at Watford on Tuesday.”

That was one of the most acomplished albion displays I have seen. It is on the back of 2 other convincing wins which has seen us score 11 and conced 0... Home and away.
This is the sign of a team that is not fluking results - but dominating (yes we were top last year.. But we just beat donny and we were lucky to beat pompey ans bristol city to get us there) last year we were playing nice football but making little chances...this team makes them (65 shots on goal before last night) and puts them away in style.
Strong at back - creative coming forward - skillfull in midfield - and lethal up front! Inbed the other new players - and I can't see us losing too many games..

LLLLZZZ My internet server was down so Luckily the BBC 5 broadcast the match, they were really impressed with the performance by the seagulls, I have to say I was really disappointed with their performance, it was by far the worst commentary I have ever heard, I felt they were watching it and believed we were as well, most of the game they rambled on about all sorts of other things they were interested in, very rarely telling us what was going on.

With regards to extra striker regular contributors have had my theory backed up tonight re Buckley goal, that he could play target man if required. Secretly still feel BZ on loan in jan or before if not getting any action at QPR not a bad bet. Also feel that we could sacrifice one centre of mid fielder to accommodate him. What do you think?

I started in the great days of '76 and last night I really felt I was watching the best Albion team I have ever seen.
One very proud BHA fan!

Far gull.. BZ is unlikey to come here as he is playing and scoring for QPR.

Probably the most complete performance I can recall from a Brighton side. Thoroughly positive and entertaining throughout. Rarely have i seen an Albion side play with so many players and options in the final third. Bridge and Bruno are outstanding. There were times when we had 5 players in their box during open play. Fantastic performance and it could have so easily been 6 or 7 against a pretty good Sheffield side. Expectations will remain high with performances like this and I take my hat off to Gus for instilling this positive approach. Every player on the pitch has shown marked improvement on last season and that's a sign of a good manager. Flying off for a week in the sun today with a warm glow in my heart after last night. Well done one and all !!
It will obviously be tougher to replicate in this division, but it is coming, and soon we will hear the chant "we're f*****g brilliant"

Kuszczak makes a huge difference, a really really accomplished goalkeeper. We must have by far the strongest pair of attacking full backs in the league.
Hammond was an inspired signing giving us that bit of agression in the middle of midfield and upfront CMS is really starting to get the service he needs.
The bench last night had so much strength. It's all looking very promising.
The weekend gets better with another humiliating defeat for Stains and that smug whatsit Adkins. Try and get some positivity out of that one Nige!!

We have the balance right, we now have the creativity in the final third sorted out properly, create loads of chances and have far greater strength in depth.
Bring it ON!

You are right, Fratsom, we did get significant numbers in and around their box. We always had options and the movement opened up space. Our domination of the second half was supreme.
And let's not forget that we did all this without the new signings featuring (Hammond aside) as all the damage had been done by the time CMS went off and the game went slightly flat towards the end.
Once those newbies have fully assimilated themselves into the first team squad we could become virtually unstoppable!!!
Bring it all ON!

Just goes to show how hard it is to step up, as demonstrated by our comprehensive and humiliating defeats at the hands of both Liverpool and West Ham. Reading and Saints were a class above us last term yet look where they are now they've stepped up. Only hope we fare better when we make it up there.
Stunning performance last night. SW were no pushover, they were very strong and physical at the back and had pace on the wings, but we showed real class.
