Albion stay top as Blackpool are beaten

Albion kept their place at the top of the Championship after Blackpool went down 3-1 at home to Huddersfield.

The Tangerines would have leapfrogged the Seagulls with victory but went down to goals from Lee Novak, James Vaughan and Oliver Norwood.

The result was enough to lift Huddersfield into second place, two points behind Albion, with Blackpool slipping to fourth.

Great weekend for the Seagulls! Nice to be on top, but it is clearly early days. Still 2 points a game will do for me!

Not a bad weekend for Huddersfield too. A result in Blackpool which shows just how tight this league is going to be. I hope the eternal optimists will not expect an easy ride on Saturday. I think it will be tough, very tough - and we had better be right on our game to avoid a clanger. No surprise then that fingers are firmly crossed.

Just thought I'd mention that on the back of the Blackpool result the Albion are now 2nd favourites for promotion with best odds of 5/2 whilst earlier favourites Blackpool have slipped to 4/1 with certain bookmakers - but what do they know (lol !!!)...

I'd have preferred a draw between Blackpool and Huddersfield, but we can't afford to rely on other teams' results. In any case, it's still too early to predict for certain who is going to be near the top in 6 month's time.

I couldn't agree more.
I am sure Birmingham will want to bounce back from their 5-0 reverse against Barnsley and they will be under less pressure playing the Championship leaders.
We need to ensure we don't underestimate them, not that I think Poyet will. A difficult game in prospect.

I agree; great start but don't get carried away. We have only played two of the top 12 teams.
