9:40pm

Albion worthy of a draw - but no more. Could have been worse.

9:40pm

Full-time

9:40pm

Buckley has been excellent.

9:39pm

El-Abd booked on 90 for a foul as we went into five added minutes.

9:35pm

There was no obvious sign Albion would go on and get the winner. In fact Ipswich looked the brighter side.

9:28pm

9:27pm

Buckey brought the house down on 80 minutes. And fair play to Calderon. At fault for the Ipswich goal, he showed persistence down the right, forced the ball across goal and Buckley netted from close range. 1-1.

9:22pm

Albion's final switch saw the limping and tired Orlandi replaced by David Lopez

9:18pm

But that was not the signal for prolonged pressure as Albion struggled to find  way through. Buckley was initially sent to the left before switching to the right flank.

9:12pm

The attacks towards the North Stand continued. LuaLua's drive was wobbling all over the place and Loach could only parry to Orlandi, whose shot was blocked by a defender. Moments later, Barnes turned and fired low but the ball zipped just wide. That LuaLua drive was his last action of note. He went off along with Hammond on 62 and Buckley and Dicker went on. Ipswich then replaced lone striker Chopra with Scotland.

9:03pm

Dobbie did more than anyone to lift the hosts after that tough start to the period. He shot wide on the run, then let fly with a better effort which deflected, looped past Loach but flew just wide. Dobbie also threaded a lovely little pass to release LuaLua, whose shot was straight at the keeper.

8:55pm

Contest could have been close to over in the first few seconds of the second period but Kuszczak made a great save low down from Murphy, who again met a cross beyond the far post. Hammond booked for a foul soon after as Ipswich started the half brightly.

8:50pm

Second half about to get under way.

8:49pm

8:34pm

Half-time

8:34pm

Far too many misplaced passes from Albion so far tonight.

8:31pm

Talking of Saturday, Albion again looked to Bridge to offer attacking spark as the half wore on and he got into the box before seeing a shot seemingly take a double deflection and flash off target.

8:30pm

Elsewhere it appears Birmingham set out to do to Cardiff what they managed here - and were doing it effectively until Craig Bellamy found a way through on 40 mins.

8:27pm

We had no goalscoring chances in the period after the goal but Ipswich had clearly grown in confidence and were playing some nice stuff as runners fed off Chopra. Albion giving the ball away more easily than we are used to seeing.

8:25pm

8:22pm

8:20pm

Murphy was coming in from beyond the far post to meet that inch-perfect cross from Edwards, a renowned attacking right-back, and got there before Calderon to nod inside the other post.

8:17pm

Ipswich went ahead in the 27th minute with a terrific goal. Right back Edwards made ground down his flank and sent over a great cross into the path of Murphy, to head back across Kuszczak from the far post.

8:12pm

That better spell saw Calderon have a blast which was on target but blocked by a defender. The resulting corner came to nothing.

8:11pm

Orlandi looking lively, creative - and bit quicker than he has shown in previous games.

8:10pm

8:10pm

Not sure if he was going for goal but Orlandi saw his inswinging free-kick tipped over by the agile Loach on 20 minutes. It was going in! That set piece, won by Calderon, offered promise of a brighter spell for the hosts.

8:07pm

Game has not really going yet but enough hints of threat from both sides to keep defences on their toes. El-Abd had to make a spectacular volleyed clearance to get a dangerous cross away.

8:01pm

8:00pm

Orlandi showed a bit of pace to launch a counter attack and bring the crowd to life. Barnes got up in support and the move ended with an angled shot by Dobbie which Loach held quite comfortably.

7:57pm

7:55pm

Kuszczak then had to make a comfortable save low to his right but the game has settled now.

7:53pm

7:52pm

Bright start by Albion and LuaLua had a very presentable chance in the very first minute which he dragged wide with a rather hurried right foot shot.

7:49pm

The three-minute delay does not apply to our Twitter feeds @AndyNaylorArgus and @Brian__Owen

7:48pm

As play starts, a reminder I am subject to a three-minute time delay on this service while the match is in progress.

7:47pm

Albion will, as usual defend the North Stand in the first half. All set to kick off.

7:41pm

Looks like a lot of people are struggling to get here for kick-off time. More empty seats than we are used to seeing at this time.

7:32pm

Conditions just a bit slick up here about 20 rows back in the East Lower too as the rain swirls around!

7:30pm

These two teams were involved in probably the match I most enjoyed covering at Withdean - when Albion stayed up on the final day of 2004-05. A piece about that day is being shown now on the big screens.

7:22pm

Highlights of the under-21s' 1-1 home draw v QPR last night have just been shown on the big screens. Looks like the Seagulls should have won it.

7:20pm

Pitch will be pretty slick tonight. We have more rain falling.

7:04pm

Full team news story now going live on this website

7:02pm

Michael Chopra starts for Ipswich on his return from a thigh injury.

6:58pm

6:54pm

Albion: Kuszczak, Calderon, El-Abd, Greer, Bridge; Bridcutt, Hammond, Orlandi; LuaLua, Barnes, Dobbie, Orlandi. Subs: Ankergren (GK), Dunk, Painter, Harley, David, Buckley, Dicker.

6:53pm

Albion bring in Orlandi and LuaLua for Buckley and Dicker.

6:52pm

Traffic has been busy around Brighton all day - and on the A27 of course. It will be a slow journey here for many.

6:48pm

6:47pm

6:44pm

"Saturday’s result proved that by letting the standard slip, even by just a small amount, we will get punished. That defeats hurts us all." Gus Poyet writing in tonight's match programme.

6:42pm

There was no shortage of possession, territorial advantage, crosses and corners versus Birmingham. But Albion missed Craig Mackail-Smith as a focal point of the attack and he will be absent again tonight due to a hamstring injury. Albion had chances to create chances on Saturday if that makes sense but failed to really test Butland, the City keeper. It will be interesting to see if they find that cutting edge in the last 20 yards or so tonight.

6:39pm

Welcome to a mild but intermittently wet evening at The Amex as we await game nine of the long Championship season. Albion's five-match winning sequence was blown out of the water by a Birmingham smash-and-grab operation here on Saturday and we wait with interest to see how they respond.

A quick word for Will Hoskins... don't rush to get match fit - there's no room even on the bench for real strikers unless, of course, they have double-barreled names... Sorry if it sounds negative but it really is frustrating. Never mind, I still have fingers crossed!!!
