El-Abd hopes to get a game for Egypt
12:30pm Saturday 6th October 2012 in Albion By Brian Owen
Adam El-Abd is due to join up with Egypt
Adam El-Abd insists he still loves going away to train with Egypt.
But the Albion defender will be happier if he gets some action on this trip.
El-Abd, below, flies to Dubai on Monday to join Bob Bradley’s squad for two friendlies.
He did something similar in the last international break, only for both scheduled games to be cancelled due to security fears.
El-Abd also saw two friendlies scrapped when he first joined with the Pharaohs during the summer and was then ruled out World Cup and African Cup Of Nations fixtures due to a delay receiving his Egyptian passport.
This time he could actually add to his 45 minutes of game time, which came in a low key friendly against Cameroon.
El-Abd said: “There has been a lot of upheaval in Egypt so that is why we are going away to play the games abroad. It is a lot safer so hopefully I get some game time.
“The two games were called off last time due to safety issues but hopefully there won’t be any problems over there.
“I have really enjoyed going away with them. It is a new experience, a new challenge and something I really look forward to and hopefully I get some game time in.”
Egypt are due to play Congo and Tunisia this time.
El-Abd still expects to receive his passport in time to feature in World Cup action in March.
