El-Abd passes Poyet test
9:30am Thursday 11th October 2012 in Albion By Andy Naylor
Adam El-Abd gets on the ball at Derby
Albion stopper Adam El-Abd has been given a vote of confidence – with the ball at his feet.
Boss Gus Poyet has vowed to stick with the Egyptian international at centre-half.
Derby’s cautious approach in last Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Pride Park often left El-Abd as the Albion defender in possession.
Poyet told The Argus: “I like it. At the start of the game people on the bench were talking about how much the opposition respect us and think about us and how difficult sometimes it is going to be for us to break down teams like that.
“We keep improving. We are going to train more things. For example, to help Adam El-Abd on the ball and the movement to keep creating and controlling. I am not changing him.
“It would be an easy decision to put Dunky (Lewis Dunk) there but he (El-Abd) was needed to defend as well. You have to put everything into balance."
El-Abd has been ever-present alongside captain Gordon Greer since replacing Dunk after Albion’s 3-0 defeat at Swindon in the Capital One Cup in their opening game of the season.
The Seagulls have conceded only six goals in ten games in the Championship, three fewer than any other team.
El-Abd is in Dubai with the Egypt squad for friendlies against Congo tomorrow and Tunisia on Tuesday.

Apart from enforced change we have maintained the back five to superb effect and every one of the five is essential to that....sorry Dunky but no cigar for now! Actually it's convenient timing what with his mind possibly being on a certain other thing at the moment?
Even though our defence remained stingy when Bruno missed our "frustration-double-
bill", its STILL worth noting that our rate of concession in the Brum and Ipswich games was above average at one per game where it was 4 in 7 prior to that.
If we keep a consistent back line all season we WILL feature in the shake up...the stats positively scream it!
Speaking of keeping the back line in fact, let's hope Adam returns in good shape from the international distractions.

Also meant to add that we immediately returned to a clean sheet when the first choice back five was reprised on Saturday at Derby...it's not particularly Bruno's defending that is the difference - it's the relief his raids down the right provide to his teammates and his more confidence inspiring availability to receive a pass (someone mentioned recently Greer's reluctance to pass to Calde).

it is between shoreham airport, the railway line and the never to be completed adur council golf course, it also backs onto mash barn lane next the housing estate there.
