Bruno in contention for Championship prize

The Argus: Bruno impressed in September Bruno impressed in September

Albion right-back Bruno has been shortlisted for the Championship player of the month award for September.

The Spanish star is up against former Seagulls striker Glenn Murray and Leicester defender Wes Morgan for the prize.

Bruno played in four wins last month and made a massive contribution to the eye-catching 3-0 home success over Sheffield Wednesday.

Murray was the division's joint top scorer in September with six goals for Crystal Palace, four of them from the penalty spot.

Albion won four games in September before losing at home to Birmingham.

That record is not enough for Gus Poyet to make the short-list for manager of the month.

Palace boss Dougie Freedman, whose side took 13 points from 15, has been nominated along with Cardiff's Malky Mackay and Nigel Pearson of Leicester.

Former Albion boss Micky Adams, now at Port Vale, is a contender for the manager of the month prize in League Two

The guy Bruno show far this country is behind Spain in quality footballers , I reckon he should be playing in the premiership, completely different class to anyone we have ever had at this club.. Good news is Vicente is looking sharp in training...

Bruno has been a great signing. We really missed him against Birmingham and Ipswich and even though he didn't look fully fit against Derby his class was evident.

Hopefully the international break will allow to him to get back to full fitness. With Bruno and CMS we looked unbeatable. Without them, we didn't.

Completely different class to anyone we have ever had at this club except perhaps ... Vicente? Bridge? Even Zamora maybe. I agree he is great and brings a totally different dimension to the game for us when he is playing, but we have other players playing for us now who are or were as good as Bruno surely.

There could not be a more worthier recipient of the award than Bruno. A class player. Phew yes, Gus not manager of the month, we've had enough jinxes of late. I'm sure that if CMS had not been injured he would also have been nominated. Roll on Saturday week and back to winning ways.

Is it such a surprise that a former regular for valencia is the best right back in the championship? The fact were able to attract these players despite having a smaller budget compared to 70% of the clubs in this league is credit to the scouting network! Its no coincidence that clubs such as newcastle have found gems from europe - pappiss cisse, cabaye, tiote. They have extensive scouting network in france and other european countries.

Small things can make a big difference. Yes the ground is great and poyet and his team are great but there are other clubs with big grounds and great managers. Finding these players first or being first to know there available can be the difference between spending millions and getting a gem like bruno, david lopez and vicente perfect examples!

Bridge is not our player, and for his first season in this country he simply is a class above .
