El-Abd boosts Cup hopes

Adam El-Abd impressed for Egypt Adam El-Abd impressed for Egypt

Adam El-Abd has been told he has boosted his World Cup chances with two solid international performances.

But his Egypt boss has stopped short of saying the Albion defender will play in the next qualifiers.

El-Abd rejoins his club mates at training this morning after two 45-minute outings for the Pharaohs in friendlies.

He helped them retain a 3-0 lead against Congo on Friday and came on after the only goal had been scored in their disappointing defeat to below-strength Tunisia on Tuesday.

El-Abd has now played three sets of 45 minutes for the country of his father’s birth, during which they have conceded one goal.

He is likely to be wanted for a friendly on Wednesday, November 14 against opponents yet to be finalised.

Egypt boss Bob Bradley said after Tuesday’s defeat: “Adam had another solid performance.

“We are happy with Adam. We are hopeful he can help the team in the next period of time.”

Egypt are building towards a World Cup qualifier on March 23.

As well as the planned friendly, which would fall midway between Albion’s trips to Wolves and Huddersfield, Bradley also wants to get his squad together in December and January.

Interesting to note that Brighton and Hove Albion sell the second-most-expensiv
e pies in English football. Got to pay for that new stadium somehow... http://www.bbc.co.uk

In all fairness they should also compare the quality of pies as well as the price. In life you normally get only what you pay for - no complaints from me!!

Another 45 mins for Egypt between the Wolves and Huddersfield game should be ok for our consummate home grown professional. If this is the kind of players we are going to produce at the new training facility we won’t go far wrong. Adam is fast becoming an Albion Legend.

Always a solid and trustworthy player and worthy of any legend status which may come his way, if it hasn't already.

Read the article again... He will be wanted in November, again in December and/or January and all that before a qualifier in March... That is some schedule which I wouldn't begrudge him if I thought he was going to come out of it unscathed... Hopefully that will be the case and he will remain 100% match fit for the club that pays his wages.
