Old firm star for Eagles

Old firm David Norris and Dean Barker turned on the magic as Eastbourne Eagles enjoyed a magnificent home win over traditional rivals Wolverhampton.

But Eagles' joy at a 57-35 success in the Elite League was somewhat tarnished by concerns over Stefan Andersson.

The Swede, still suffering from the after-effects of concussion, felt unwell in early evening and was withdrawn after two scoreless races.

Eagles' five remaining riders responded superbly.

Norris scored a 16+2 paid maximum and shared in three 5-1s with Barker, who defied mechanical gremlins to notch a near-perfect 12+2 (5).

Norris shared three 5-1s with Barker and also had a maximum in heat 15 with Nicki Pedersen, who was untroubled as he again won five out of five.

Eagles boss Trevor Geer said: "I think we've started to believe in ourselves."

Wolves had just two heat wins.
