Wycombe Wanderers vs Brighton and Hove Albion
Recalled Glenn Murray stole the show as Albion fought out a dramatic 4-4 draw at Wycombe in the FA Cup. Murray, replacing Liam Dickinson in caretaker manager Martin Hinshelwood's line-up, scored two and was involved in two more in a thrilling first-round tie at Adams Park. Albion's defensive woes continued, though, as did their disciplinary headaches after Gavin Hoyte booked himself a three-match ban with a straight red card. The sides will replay at Withdean a week on Wednesday. Albion made an impressive start and deserved the third-minute lead given them by Elliott Bennett after Murray sent him through. Wycombe drew level on 18 minutes thanks to a charitable penalty award as Matt Harrold tumbled under pressure from Adam Virgo. Harrold himself drilled home the spot kick. Albion's afternoon then seemed to be heading quickly downhill after five nightmare minutes just past the half hour. First right back Hoyte was red-carded for taking a kick at Jon Paul Pittman as the ex-Crawley striker backed into him on 33 minutes. Five minutes later Wycombe loanee Scott Davies fired his side ahead with an expertly-taken half volley into the top corner. Things were evened up again in added time as Craig Woodman fouled Murray in the box and was sent-off. Nicky Forster fired in a perfect penalty, though his celebration in front of the home terrace earnned him a yellow card. There was no let-up in the excitement after the break as Albion took just six minutes to go back ahead, this time Murray getting the ball out on the right, cutting inside and seeing his shot deflect off a defender and over keeper Scott Shearer. At that point the visitors seemed on top but Pittman guided a shot past Smith to level again on 61 minutes after Harrold had beaten Virgo to head the ball down. Harrold was too hot to handle again 20 minutes from time, losing marker Tommy Elphick to shoot home from Betsy's cross. There was still time for final twist, Murray converting an 82nd-minute spot kick after sub Craig Davies had seen his cross handled.
