Matt Prior hit a brilliant century as Sussex Sharks got their Pro40 League campaign off to a winning start at Arundel.

Prior scored 137 from 123 balls, including 12 fours and three sixes, as the Sharks passed Somerset's total of 242-7 with two balls to spare.

Prior was eventually bowled in the last over to give the Sharks a minor scare but Murray Goodwin hit the winning boundary to complete a fairly comfortable win.

Luke Wright also made 40 in a 99-partnership with Prior, Chris Adams added 36 towards the end and Mike Yardy hit 20.

Earlier Marcus Trescothick had scored 91 after being dropped on one by Adams and put on 125 with Zander De Bruyn, who made an unbeaten 70, to help the Sabres set a challenging total. Luke Wright and Mike Yardy each took two wickets while Robin Martin-Jenkins, Chris Liddle and James Kirtley claimed one apiece.
