Lewes turned in their poorest performance of the season as they went down 3-0 at home to Barrow.

The Rooks looked short on ideas as they were out-thought and out-muscled by a Barrow side who had failed to win their previous three games.

Two goals in the last six minutes of the first half gave the visitors a deserved interval lead.

Barrow added a third in the second half and could have had more in front of a disappointing crowd of 679.

Lewes gave debuts to new signing Shabazz Baidoo and Zac Beda but they were under the cosh for much of the first half.

Rikki Banks came to their rescue on three occasions before the deadlock was broken on 39 minutes.

Andy Bond clipped a half cleared corner back into the penalty area and Paul Brown's header wrong-footed the Lewes goalkeeper as it dropped into the corner of the net.

It got worse for Lewes a minute before the break when a penalty was awarded for handball and Steve McNulty blasted home from the spot.

The hosts switched from 4-5-1 to 4-4-2 for the second half but things did not improve and it was no surprise when substitute Nick Rogan added a fine individual third goal on 71 minutes.

Tom Lyons was also given a debut as a replacement for Baidoo.

Lewes belatedly called Barrow keeper Tim Deasy in action with Stefan Cox and Scott Taylor each forcing saves but by then the game long gone.

Rooky, Nr Lewes says...
10:02pm Sat 6 Sep 08

Worst I have ever seen at the Pan. No passion, no pride, no performance. It was embarrassing to be a Lewes fan. KK can't blame the team or say they were unlucky. According to him they have now been unlucky for 8 games in a row. Come on Lewes FC Board, give us a statement- what is to be done?
