Mackay to leave Sussex

Sussex's chief executive Gus Mackay is to leave the club.

Mackay will be named as the new Managing Director of Cricket at Surrey later today.

The 41-year-old, who played three one-day internationals for Zimbabwe during his playing career, joined Sussex from Leicestershire in 2005.

His departure could open the way for skipper Chris Adams to take over in the top job at Hove.

Adams, who has been linked with an off-field role at Hampshire in recent weeks, was on the shortlist of three when Mackay got the job and has never hidden his ambition to work for the club in an administrative capacity once his playing career comes to an end.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaa
aaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!!
!

Get yourself down to the County Ground on Thursday night people, it's party time!

This evil, joke of a man is gone, and now finally Adams will be given perfect opportunity to pack it in as well (and not a moment too soon!).

What a MARVELLOUS day in the history of Sussex CCC.

Wohooo! Mackay OUT!

I'd like to think my months of campaigning have finally paid off!

"This evil, joke of a man" - who you've clearly never met. And I hardly think your pathetic whinges on here have played any part.

Maybe one day you'll actually confirm what your REAL reason behind your vendetta against Gus is. So far I can only narrow it down to beer prices at 20/20 matches, and responsibility for defeats (but no credit for victories).

As for backing Adams for the job, I thought you wanted him out altogether as he was only interested in working for Sky.

And what will you have to occupy your life now ? Maybe you can up your Robbo out campaign.

Real reason?
I think you mean real reasonS.

1) The Ground developments - utter shambles
2) The concerts - great idea Gus, have the club make a loss
3) Ryan Harris - ****-up
4) Failure to replace key senior pro's like Monty/Kirtley, as well as Rana, and instead relying on youngsters who aren't good enough.
5) Overinflated ticket prices/membership prices for ALL forms of the game. £20 for a casual fan to attend Thursday nights game - what sort of a price is that?!
6) Twenty20 tickets NOT included in the membership, meaning members are fleeced for even more cash. Oh, and even then, members have to pay more to sit in THEIR pavillion.
7) General catering prices - extortion.
8) FAILURE to consistently sell out the ground at twenty20 matches when other counties with bigger grounds and smaller catchment areas are doing so. Poor pricing, and generally a marketing disaster.

Just some of my gripes with the man, off the top of my head.

Regarding Adams - not sure where i've backed him for the job. But if he ends up at Hampshire, Sky or in place of Gus, he won't be failing with the bat anymore, which is what he's done all season.

As for my life - well I should probably point out that you're the one who can't help but have personal snipes at other posters on the Argus website, and yet doesn't actually comment on the articles. THAT'S Sad.

But in answer to your question, the season is almost over anyway, but there's still an important relegation battle/Pro40 challenge to look at, as well the local football team.

Good day to you though, hope you're secretly as delighted as I am at the departure of this clown.

So Chris -Hassocks is on this site as well eh. Shame he knows about it even if he has something sensible to say (which would be a surprise) He does have one point of interest -the replacement of key figures who have gone/ or going to finish soon. This does seem to have been a problem that needs to be rectified.

CFH. I have no doubt that the decision of Gus to move to Surrey had nothing to do with you. Your rant is so one sided it is untrue and hardly worthy of response. The achievements of the side over the last few years are testiment to the good job done at Sussex. We have one year when things have not gone quite to plan, primarily due to Mushy's injury and off you go. Fickle.
I hope Adams gets the vacant post now.

Adams doesn't have the required level of business acumen needed for the role of Chief Executive!

That may, or may not, be the case. Unless you know the man well I suggest we do not know. I would like him to stay involved with Sussex, that I do know.

Let's face it, Adams can't be any worse than Mackay in terms of forcing the fans away and ensuring empty seats all over the County Ground.

Maxluke he has been playing cricket for the last twenty years so of course he has no business experience!
