Kelvin Hassell took victory in the 30 degree heat at the Warneton International Speedway in Belgium.
The Eastbourne driver won the opening heat of the European Late Model Series after fighting his way through the field to pass American Bruce Andrews and Belgium’s Anton Gonnissen to take the chequered flag.
In heat two, Hassell started from the back of the grid but carved his way through again to take fifth place. He was running fifth again in the final before clipping the wall on the exit from turn two which dropped him down to tenth at the finish line.
Crawley Down’s Craig Rainer and his Wealden Racing Team enjoyed another highly successful weekend at Snetterton.
Rainer is competing in the Classic Touring Car Racing Club’s Blue Oval Saloon Series, which runs alongside the Classic Thunder Championship.
Despite suffering damage to his car while trying to avoid an incident in race one, Rainer went on to claim class victory in both races as well as finishing fourth and second overall.
He said: “I couldn’t have asked for more than that. Credit must go to my team who, after the front splitter was destroyed on Saturday, got the car in perfect shape for Sunday’s race.”
