Albion turn to El-Abd

Albion will turn to Adam El-Abd to solve their left-back crisis for Saturday's home game against Oldham.

El-Abd returned from a three-match ban with a run-out in the reserves on Tuesday.

He is needed because Jim McNulty is out for four weeks with a repeat of ankle ligament damage and bone bruising, while Jake Wright has also hurt his left ankle in training.

Nicky Forster resumed training today after missing last Saturday's defeat at Tranmere with a tweaked hamstring. He will replace the banned Glenn Murray in attack.

Midfielder Gary Dicker has recovered from a hip problem but Craig Davies is ineligible to face his old club.

Davies has returned 48 hours early from his loan spell at Yeovil, as he is not in the squad for their game against Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

Albion boss Russell Slade was absent from the training ground today due to a virus.

That isn't a solution to the crisis, that's just another crisis waiting to happen!

Isnt it typical. The first game i am going to see this season and i have got to watch him. I was really looking forward to seeing Mc Nulty. Surely Livermore is better than El Bad.

This could well encourage a different viewpoint here, but it appears that the general consensus of opinion is slightly opposed to El-Abd's inclusion in the team for Saturday.
It might be fair to suggest that Albion supporters will hoping for a miracle, and that the guy plays a blinder on the day, whilst not attempting any halfhearted back-passes to Kuipers.
Have just been informed that the Falmer Webcam is to be moved shortly, as the view is somewhat obscured by the South Stand construction. So that's some good news at least.

Adam's played over 200 games for seagulls, but I'd love to know how those appearances are broken down across centre back, left and right back and midfield. Perhaps we should give him a go in the hole behind the strikers.

El Abd is a wholehearted player who has his limitations, Livermore was once upon a time a decent midfielder whose legs appear to have gone. Have people forgotten how poorly he has played at left back in the past?

Er.....no...Livermor
e is NOT better at left back! Remember him being torn apart there a few times. El abd will give his all, which is all we can ask from him for now.

With fozzie back and dicker playing we should be able to get three points sat, so don't worry!! 3-1 Albion I reckon.

P.s. Just watching Zamora playing for fulham on the telly, ah those were the days.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot the reason that Albion are relegation fodder - again - is all down to El-Abd. Let's forget about the dodgy goalkeeper, the dodgier centre-backs, the uncreative midfield and the strikers - with the exception of Forster - who can't hit a barn door.

this is born out of a poor non league set up, where is the direction of the club? when did they give a staement of intent? from youth upwards its not happening, we need to stop blaming managers and get rid of the " job for lifers" club have 12 months to get this right, or falmer will be a white elephant of football.

so with el-abd, Virgo & Elphick at the back what are the odds on us ending with 10 men again ? However i must say I wouldnt have Livermore at left back. Cant we sign a left back on loan ? its been our main problem all season & unfortunately Mcnulty seems injury prone,

I don't believe I said it was all El Abd's fault. A lot of the team have questions to answer about their performances, and so do the manager and coaches.

But El Abd is part of the problem, not part of the solution, in my humble opinion.

The solution is a new manager, coaching staff and -with the exception of Forster - a new team.
