Giles gets rare start for Reds

Former captain Chris Giles made his first Crawley start since August 22 as Steve Evans' men looked to end a six-game winless sequence at home to York City in the Blue Square premier today.

He came in for Karl Broadhurst who was missing through injury along with Charles Ademeno and Sam Rents as Reds' injury worries showed no sign of easing.

Giles will play at leftback and Glenn Wilson will partner Adam Quinn in the centre of defence. Danny Forrest continued up front with Jefferson Louis.

York's squad has been ravaged by flu this week but boss Martin Foyle was still able to name a strong side although injury ruled out striker Michael Gash, who scored one of York's goals when they won 2-0 against Crawley at KitKat Crescent less than two months ago.

Crawley: Rayner; Rusk, Quinn, Wilson, Giles, Smith, Hutchinson, Pinault, Cogan, Forrest, Louis. Subs: Killeen, Malcolm, Carter, Jordan, Willock.

York City: Ingham; McGurk, Parslow, Sangare, Carruthers, Boyes, Lawless, Barrett, Ferrell, Rankine, Brodie. Subs: Meredith, Smith, Nelthorpe, Mackin, McWilliams.

Referee: Kevin Johnson (Weston Super Mare) Now click onto Live Updates at the top of this page for goalflashes and reports on today's game.
