Adams: Championship return is the aim
Micky Adams
Micky Adams

Micky Adams has pledged to return Albion to the Championship by 2011.

Adams, back as manager after a seven-year gap, outlined his hopes for his second spell at the club at a press conference at Withdean today.

He said: "The short term aim is to get the club in the Championship. I think that is achievable, certainly in the three years that I've got.

"We then establish it in the Championship for a push maybe for the Premiership, once we are in the new stadium. Anything is possible."

I would have thought that even under Dean Wilkins our ambition would be to get promoted NEXT season?

I expect Dean could have got us into the Championship by 2011, so why change managers?

What is going on at our Club?

Wilkins gets sacked for us ending up 7th - and Judus Adams talks about promotion within three years?

I was pi$$ed-off at not going up this year because of Knight's medling in the team and losing Wilkins half his team.

Isn't it about time the chairman (and maybe some other board members) came out and actually told us what is going on? It seems that year after year - certainly in recent times - actions are taken which leave supporters bewildered both by the speed with which they are taken and the reasons for them. Of course, we should not expect to be privy to private negotiations but surely it would help everyone understand better if rational explanations were given.I have never been a siuupporter of Wilkins as a manager but I confess to be totally confused as to why he should be removed the day after the retained list was announced. Who decided on the list? When was Mickey Adams approached? the questions are endless - it would be nice to get some straight answers!!!

I totally agree, it's not clear who's making decision and why. Whether you like Wilkins or not giving him a 3 year contract in April and then a month later demoting him makes no sense.

I agree - what's wrong with having an ambition to get promoted in the 2008/09 season? Surely we can do better than 7th if Dick Knight thinks Micky Adams is the man to improve on Dean Wilkin's performance. MA's role should then be to keep us there and push on for the Premiership, I'd have thought. It's not rocket science, is it?

A good example of "mushroom management" keep everyone in the dark and feed us ****

what's the point in going to the championship to have pathetic crowds ... we should sort out getting a full house every week first ...

Personally I think it is a good decision and I'm pleased.

I think the board and chairmen think Adams is better then Wqilkins and at Championship level he will be out of his depth, even high league 1 could be. And I agree with them.

Wilkins niche is coaching. It irritates me the way people always critisize no matter what. Lets wait and see what happens, more will immerge I am sure.

An interesting strategy for lower league clubs. Build up regular crowds of 40,000 plus then start aiming for promotion to the higher divisions. I don't know why any clubs haven't tried this.

Lets get a few things straight, of the three clubs that Micky has been involved with two Colchester and Leicester are in league 1 next season and Coventry escaped on the last day. Surely we should be saying promotion next year with the premiership in three? Seriously concerned with the goings on at Brighton, I feel that Dick Knight has become a bit addicted to the limelight

Oh what a vision the muppet has, it was only a week ago everyone was hoping for the Championship next season with Wilkins. Maybe Adams AKA Hasbeen is planning to get us there via Div 2 cos he's a dab hand at Relegation

Let us not forget that during MA's last spell with the club, and the team he put together, we won back to back promotions. who's to say he's not going to do it again? Go on Micky, put us in the Premiership!

Actually that's not true. If Man U came in for Mickey Adams we wouldn't see Mickey Adams for dust.

The present team is not capable of securing promotion whoever is manager. This appointment is to turn attention away from Knight.

And that would be okay because they would have to compensate us handsomely for the three years left on his contract. Maybe we could take Ronaldo in return.

I think Adams should of been assistant to Wilkins instead of white. he could of been something like a mentor

James, you are sort of stating the bloomin obvious. We have just got rid of 10 players, obviously the current squad isn't good enough! That's why Adams has said I will get promotion within 3 years...this means he can buy and sell and train up.

Sort of a ridiculous pop at Knight really who has had the balls to impliment this decision and will clearly back his manager.

Perhaps thought should prevail in future.

I think it is only right that 'Mickey(Mouse)Adams(
family)' is back at BHA. Mickey mouse is the club, Adams family is the retarded bunch of weirdos that follow this hapless club. They can't even win the Johnstone paints or whatever it is, let alone gain promotion. Long live my old mate Dave Belotti. He did the city a favour in getting these inept cretins out of Hove. hurrah!!

Knight must be desperate, falling gates and the prospect of Sussex football fans finding their footie fix at one of the exciting conference clubs (remember Sussex now have three) at a much cheaper price do not auger well for the Albion. He needs a quick fix, is MA the man to deliver, I doubt it.
