Crawley keeper on his way

Crawley goalkeeper Ashley Bayes is expected to join Conference rivals Stevenage Borough.

Boss Steve Evans has revealed the Reds are letting Bayes go and said his keeper "would have been crazy to reject" an offer he has reportedly received from the Hertfordshire club.

Bayes turned down terms to stay at the Broadfield Stadium.

Evans added: "Given the club is also on his doorstep it quite possibly made his decision easy. Ashley was terrific for us, a great character and will be missed."

Reds' retained list revealed last night comprises Tyrone Thompson, Dannie Bulman, Jon-Paul Pittman, Bradley Thomas, Thomas Pinault, Glenn Wilson, Jamie Stevens and Jamie Cook.

The club have released James Krause, Paul Watson, Lee Blackburn and Pierre Joseph-Dubois while Kieran Murphy, Mustafa Carayol and Ryan Hall are returning to their parent clubs.

Evans said: "We have retained some real quality players who I can assure you have been sought after. From now it is about working through our targeted list of players. We have firm ideas on who we want to sign."

Meanwhile Crawley chairman Vic Marley reports a tax bill of £96,000, plus various other debts, have now been paid.

So we now know who Crawley are keeping fine. But what is happening to Magno Vieira. I know he's on loan at Cambridge is he staying there or moving on. Anyone know? perhaps Mr Evans can shed some light on the subject
