Albion have made their fourth signing of the summer, capturing utility player David Livermore on a Bosman free transfer from Premier League newcomers Hull City.

The 28-year-old Londoner, who has agreed a two-year contract, joins Colin Hawkins, Kevin McLeod and Adam Virgo as boss Micky Adams continues his squad strengthening.

Livermore, a League One title winner with Millwall, was loaned out to Oldham towards the end of last season and played against Albion in their 1-0 defeat at Withdean in February.

What do you think?

Another good signing on a free as well. Cant remember last time we made so many signings pre-season. Just need a left back & a winger now (& possibly a backup keeper). Currie seems to be the latest rumour, would prefer Gillespe & would like to see Richards back. Cant wait for next season !!!!

I can only think that this signing was because we didnt get McPhee. I think Livermore will be decent enough, but he's clearly not a McPhee.

This would usually get me excited but i'm still reeling from the McPhee news.

Good luck David - sorry you had to join under this cloud of depression.

I think Livermore can play left back, good experienced, solid pro.

Well done Micky.

you all know nothing cheltenham turned down 300k last week cant see DK paying that , mcphee staying in west country marrying a surfer, currie is a hasbeen , lets look to the future , big bad bazza lloyd has been scouting in basra and the pamplona may be he will find someone else, we will make the playoffs and we are goin up say ...

Livermore.
A player who could'nt break into Hulls first team last season.
And you lot think he's upto doing a job for you next season in the prem!
Comparing him with our prespective new signings, makes me even more confident that we'll be finnishing above you next season.

In response to Hullensian, I'd be surprised if Hull didn't finish above us, as they are in the Premiership and we are in League 1.
Another good signing. Come on you Seagulls!

Livermore is a solid defensive midfielder, good simple passer and you probably will not realise how effective he can be. will also score a few goals as well

good luck to him

Livermore is a very good player, he didn't play a lot for us last season due to a clause in his contract which meant should he play a certain amount of games we had to extend the contract by a further 12 months, he can play anywhere down the left, even played centre half in one game, very tough tackler and will be a great assett to your club

Paul, Burgess Hill says...

Looks like an excellent capture. Good to see the Hull fans rating him as well. Would have to ask the question - would Wilkins have been able to attract the players Adams has?!?!

the team is really starting to take shape and is looking very balanced in my opinion. I think we are two good quality players away from a squad that could get us promoted this coming season!

Justin, Burges Hill says...

I doubt he would, Paul.

We would still be waiting for those two last minute desperation signings.

I cannot remember being this optimistic about a season for a good few years now!

Please make sure you know which club you're commenting on before posting comments. otherwise it might make you look a wee bit silly!

These comments are becoming more like NSC everyday - drivel. Basically Livermore is unspectacular but effective. A great addition. We still need to strengthen midfield but certainly looks great at the moment. As for McPhee jokes...can only think this is some NSC in joke ....please leave this decent site alone kids

I felt sorry for Wilkins and did not think he should have been sacked. But on the basis he struggled to sign players (maybe because he had no financial support like Adams?), we are now moving forward without him.

I did not like the way Adams walked-out on us last time.

He has tried to get a career at a higher level and had no luck.

I think he has learned that he is better off with us for the long term with Falmer (hopefully) only two years away.

However, I can honestly say that the players he is bringing to the Club, added to what we had last year under Wendy, is starting to make next season look very exciting indeed.

The Board are certainly more likely to get bums on seats than if Wendy was still here!

You've got the wrong Albion mate.
We're Brighton & Hove Albion not West Brom.

Actually Cheltenham refused a £400k bid last week. I suspect Cheltenham are holding out for £500,000.

Livermore is another good signing by Adams.

Forget a has been like Currie lets try and sign Gillespie and Richards.

David Livermore is a great signing for Brighton. I'm sure he'll do a good job for you. He can play anywhere on the left or central midfield.

Livermore was a great player for Hull. Very deceptive, gives 100% every game, tough customer, and chips in with a few goals. Good luck to him!!!

You make a very good point Paul. That is why he is still out of work after all this time. The club needed to put bums back on seats at the end of the day,and Wilkins could never do that. What fans should ask is what damage has already been done to the club. One of the medical team told me last night Falmer is a none starter if Adams can't get the crowds back asap.I will never understand why Knight gave Wilkins the job in the first place.

livermore is unspectacular you will come away some games thinking he didn't do much, he does the simple things nicely gets stuck in and mops up well. typical defensive midfielder, you will need a flair player to complement his good work

remember what all the hull fans have said

simple effective unspectacular good tackler and will score at least a couple of goals

good luck next season

As a millwall fan, I would say he will do a good job for you..he was nothing special for us, but still one of our better players at the time, although he thought he was better than he was!

as I say will do a good solid job at this level

I have very impressed with the signings so far but Currie is too old & too slow

Another very good signing, I've seen quite a bit of this boy play in the past, and it's another signing that will add quality to our already pretty decent squad for the season, still think we need a creative type player though, think we might use him more as a left back next season, then our centre halfs next season will be by far the best in div 1, we'll have 4 very decent ones in Elphick, Lynch, Hawkins and Virgo, I haven't been this excited about an Albion squad since the Zamora days, deffo worth a score on winning div 1 this year me thinks!
