Lewes have confirmed the signing of former Albion skipper Danny Cullip.

The 31-year-old, who has also played for Fulham, Brentford, Sheffield United, Watford, Nottingham Forest, QPR and Gillingham, has signed a two-year contract at the Dripping Pan.

Manager Kevin Keehan said: "I am really pleased to have signed Danny and would like to thank our title sponsors, Magic Man, for their help in bringing Danny to Lewes.

"I have two more quality signings I hope to make in the near future and then we will be ready for the coming season."

Are you pleased to see Danny Cullip at Lewes?

Could be the turning point for Lewes - I would not have believed it if it wasn't in the Argus! Would love to see a player of that quality at Boro, it is the one position I think we (Boro) will struggle to cover if Marc Pullan and Darren Baker aren't quite up to the pace of the BS Premier. Now if Lewes sign a couple of quality forwards, the Christmas derbies will be sold out by October!

On the other hand if Lewes are relegated by Christmas they could loan him to the Albion for the rest of the season - I'm sure KK and DK could find a way of doing that 'economically'...

He's got dodgy knees .
Are his legs on a 2 year contract??

God what a dark day for football. A player can go straight from League One first team footballer to non league football. This man's confidence levels must have hit an all time low. I wouldn't get your hopes up on Cullip, he is clearly a broken man.

Barnham Seagull, Littlehampton says...

Looked very bad for Gillingham last year.

Must have found it very hard to find any club that wanted him given his recent injury problems.

He is not even half the player he used to be, big name signing but a player that is definatley very close to hanging up his boots!

Soon Brighton will be Sussex's third or fourth best club. With the emergence of Crawley, Lewes and Estbourne. Give it another decade and they will probably be the second team within their own city behind Whitehawk. Bunch of numpties in tesco bags.

Brighton - the biggest club in the whole of East and West Sussex.
Palace - the biggest club in the whole of East and West Croydon.

Well done, Palace.

Eddie the Eagle, Brighton says...

What a poor point hart's shirt. You are the only professional club in Sussex (crap at sport). Were as Palace are located within greater London. Fact = Palace 5 times as many years in top division to that of Brighton and have virtually averaged a league above you for the last 100 years ;-) sad little Brighton

Rich Hammond, Ringmer says...

What an excellent signing. Another four or five and the Rooks might have a chance of staying up. Even if Cullip only plays a handful of games, his experience will help the younger players enormously. In fact, why not make Cullip the manager?

May I speak for all Brighton fans and say what a sad day for football it was when palace lost in the playoffs...

Marc Pullen wasn't up to standard of the BSP when he came up with us (Crawley). He tended to get out of puff much more easily.

A decent signing for Lewes, add another half a dozen like that and they could well stay up.

Good luck Danny, you were an excellent skipper for the Albion, got your chance with Blades, but fell foul of the Warnock. Hope Lewes can be a springboard for you to get back into league football. MOST Albion fans, as you know from the away matches, where you featured for the opposition, always gave you a warm reception.

Gus Mackay take note - this is a prime example of an EXCITING signing.

Lewes fans have had a tough time since the end of the season. However, I sense we may now be able to look to the future with more optimism. The signing of Barny was an enormous boost and this latest news gives further encouragement. I am looking forward to seeing the new squad pull on their shirts for the first time against St Francis on Tuesday night.

Lewis, i live down hear to satisfy the women, because the majority of fellas like yourself are back door merchants. Plus i like squeezing cash from the mugs i meet within this lovely city. Only problem is the sad so-called football club with it's retarded supporters, the poofs (supporters again) and scag heads. Besides from that i love it :) Ps Bet i have taken your cash lightning
