Eastbourne Borough have signed former Albion striker Kane Louis.

Louis made his debut when he came on as a subsitute in the 3-1 friendly victory over Havant and Waterlooville at Priory Lane on Saturday.

The 19-year-old was released by the Seagulls at the end of last season and will feature in Borough’s new midweek reserve team in the Combination League, along with defender Matt Hurley who has also signed.

Assistant manager Nick Greenwood said: “Kane has had trials at Luton but nothing came of it so he made himself available to us during the week and we said we’d have a look at him.

“He scored a lot of goals for Brighton’s youth and reserve teams and showed some nice touches on Saturday so we think he is possibly one for the future.

“We want to get as many good young Sussex players in our reserve team as possible and he fits that bill. If he impresses in that he can push for a first team place.”

Simon Weatherstone (hamstring) and Andy Atkin (stomach muscle) are both expected to be fit for Saturday’s opening Blue Square premier trip to Wrexham after missing the Havant match.

Jamie Taylor scored twice against the Hawks and Liam Enver-Marum was also on target.

Greenwood added: “It could have been half a dozen. The last couple of games we have perhaps not been as decisive in the final third so it was good to create lots of chances and for both forwards to score.

“We are pretty close to knowing the team which will play at Wrexham now.”
