Crawley insist they are not dragging their heels about releasing details about the club takeover despite delaying the announcement for another month.
Reds were due to hold a press conference tomorrow to give supporters information about who owns the club.
But it has been put back another four weeks because the club say they do not yet know all the facts.
Fans have been waiting to find out basic details since the club announced it had been taken over by consortium Prospect Estates Holdings Limited and former owner John Duly almost three weeks ago.
In a statement, chairman Victor Marley said: "It possibly seems to some that the takeover was quite some time ago. The fact is, it has only been a few weeks and documentation is still being completed. It could not be further from the truth that we are taking too much time, to the contrary, we are being most diligent.
"A number of people are working extremely long hours so that when we do speak publicly, we will do so in complete knowledge of all the facts.
"We have stated on record that we will be as open and transparent as we can but we must ensure when we speak or comment it is only factual information. It is imperative that we keep to this criteria.
"The last of the meetings we have scheduled is set for Friday, May 2 so I have called a football club board meeting for Wednesday, May 7.
"I would anticipate that we would then be in a position to meet with the press and the supporters the following week."
