Crawley have released out-of-favour midfielder Scott Davies to make way for new arrivals during the January transfer window.

Davies had made just one appearance this season - as a substitute in the JP Trophy - and was in the last six months of his contract.

The former Reading midfielder is the third player to have his contract paid up in the last two weeks following Charlie Wassmer and Scott Neilson.

Manager Richie Barker said: "Scott has not figured this season and that was not going to change.

"So, like the two players who left last week, we had a chat and decided it was best for both us and Scott that he moved on."

Davies joined Crawley in July 2011 after being released by Reading and made 32 appearances as Reds won promotion from League Two last season, scoring three goals.

The 24-year-old is now a free agent and will be able to join any club he likes in January.
