New signing Matt Sparrow has to be content with a place on the bench for Crawley's game at Tranmere Rovers.

Sparrow joined on Thursday after being released by Brighton but is not considered ready to go straight into the starting line-up as he has not played since last March.

Instead Dannie Bulman is drafted in to the centre of midfield in place of Hope Akpan, who joined Reading earlier in the week.

That is the only change to the Crawley side which lost 3-1 to Reading in the FA Cup last weekend.

Defender Claude Davis has not recovered from a knee injury so Joe Walsh continues alongside Mark Connolly at the back.

Boss Richie Barker has an attack-minded bench at his disposal featuring strikers John Akinde, Jonte Smith and Lateef Elford-Alliyu.

Tranmere make one change from the side hammered 5-0 by Derby County in the FA Cup last weekend. New signing David Amoo coming in for Cole Stockton.

Tranmere: Fon Williams, Holmes, Taylor, Daniels, Bakayogo, McGurk, Palmer, Power, Robinson, Amoo, O'Halloran. Subs: Black, Goodison, Harrison, Stockton, Bell-Baggie, Akpa Akpro, Mooney.

Crawley (4-4-2): P Jones; Hunt, Connolly, Walsh, Sadler; Adams, Simpson, Bulman, M Jones; Clarke, Alexander. Subs: Kuipers, Cooper, Torres, Sparrow, Akinde, Smith, Elford-Alliyu.
