Assistant manager Paul Groves admitted Crawley may have got a bit lucky with the controversial penalty which earned them a 1-0 win over Swindon.

Robins boss Mark Cooper was furious that referee James Linnington awarded Reds a spot kick after Izale McLeod had gone down under a challenge from Louis Thompson.

Thompson was also shown a red card and Crawley were able to see out the game after McLeod had converted his third goal in as many games from 12 yards.

Groves said: “It was difficult for the ref. It was a quick counter attack and he was trying to cacth up with play.

“He makes a call which he feels is right on the day. Some you get and some you don’t but Izale finished the chance and we got the three points.”

Groves was also delighted with a third clean sheet despite Swindon enjoying the majority of the possession throughout the game, even when they were a man down.

He added: “We’ve faced a difficult week with 130 minutes (against Ipswich) and it was another difficult fixture so it was an excellent win.

“We have shown a resilience and excellent levels of fitness and togetherness and those qualities came to the fore today.”
