Boss John Gregory believes the arrival of midfielders Keith Keane and Josh Wright will help transform Crawley’s fortunes.

Gregory moved to sign the pair on three-month loans following Saturday’s 4-0 humiliation at the hands of Rochdale which dropped them to 19th in League One.

The Reds boss wasted no time in bringing in Keane from Preston North End and Wright from Championship club Millwall on the loan window’s opening day.

Both will make their debuts against Fleetwood on Saturday and with Joe Walsh and Gwion Edwards returning from international duty Gregory is confident of a much-improved performance.

Gregory said: “We have been desperate for reinforcements but I was not in a position to bring anybody in on a permanent basis so I had to wait for the loan window to open.

“Saturday was a game too far for some of our young boys but the team will look totally different this weekend.

“I’ve had an eye on Keith and Josh for quite a considerable time. Keith is like a younger version of Dannie Bulman and will bring a wealth of experience to the side which we desperately need.

“I’ve seen a lot of Josh over the years and is somebody who showed a lot of potential as a kid. I’ve been careful to give away the No.10 shirt which Andy Drury wore last season but I think Josh can do it justice.”

Both players will be available for the JP Trophy and FA Cup although Millwall are able to recall Wright any time after the initial 28 days of the loan.

Meanwhile, Gregory is awaiting on the results of scan on skipper Josh Simpson’s injured ankle today before deciding whether to make any further signings.

He added: “If it drags on much longer then I think I’ll have to bring in another offensive player. We’ve got a few on the radar.”
