Matt Harrold admits Crawley must roll up their sleeves and show the fans what they are made of following two demoralising results.
Harrold scored his first goal since joining Reds in the summer at Meadow Lane on Saturday as John Gregory’s men slumped to a 5-3 defeat.
Crawley have now conceded nine goals in their last two games and Harrold says they cannot continue to be a “soft touch”.
The former Bristol Rovers striker said: “They were more aggressive than us in the first half and we can’t come out of a game saying that. We have got to fight from the first minute.
“The last home game (4-1 against Peterborough) wasn’t good enough either so we need to bounce back and show the supporters we are not prepared to be a soft touch.
“We know it is not good enough at the moment so we have got to go into tomorrow night’s game against Walsall and be absolutely on it. We can’t afford to have anyone off the pace.”
Reds remain 15th in League One but are only two points above the relegation zone and Gregory admits it is imperative they turn things around having taken only one point from their last three games.
Gregory said: “It’s a must-win game without any question. I was expecting to see a response to the Peterborough game on Saturday but I didn’t get it so we’ve got to try to make amends tomorrow.”
