Crawley boss John Gregory has vowed to carry on despite seeing his side knocked out of the JP Trophy by ten-man Gillingham.

Reds looked to be on course for the semi-finals when Izale McLeod gave them the lead from the penalty spot and Joe Martin was sent off for the visitors.

But Gillls fought back with goals from Jermaine McGlashan and Doug Loft to spark a section of the home fans to call for Gregory to be sacked.

Gregory questioned his own position after the 1-1 draw with Crewe ten days ago but says he has no intention of quitting following this latest setback.

Gregory said: "We are still 15th in League One with nine clubs below us, including some who are much bigger than uss.

"We've got Oldham on Saturday and then two home games so there is a possible nine points which can change our season.

"Things aren't going well at the moment but all you can do is work hard and try to improve results."

Gregory felt Crawley had played some of their best football of the season until Martin was dismissed but completely lost their way against ten men.

He added: "We were in total control without any question. I was very pleased with the way everything wwas going but the sending off galvanised them.

"We just showed our naivety in the remaining 25 minutes. We didn't know what to do. We should have been able to keep the ball and try to find a second goal but instead we stopped doing the things we had before and then gifted them two goals."
