Head coach Paul Groves praised Crawley’s resilience after they bounced back from a difficult week by earning a point at in-form Oldham Athletic.

Reds travelled to Boundary Park on the back of disappointing exits from two cup competitions and having placed five players on the transfer list on Thursday.

Things looked ominous when Daniel Johnson gave Oldham the lead after just seven minutes but Gwion Edwards levelled with a fine strike two minutes before the interval.

Reds had to dig in as Oldham pushed for a winner in the second half but hung on for a 1-1 draw to stretch their unbeaten run in League One to four games.

Groves said: “It was important we bounced back and to come here and get something against a team which has been in good form was really pleasing.

“The team showed great spirit and togetherness to come away from a game which was always going to be tough.

“I’m sure one or two players were hurting (after recent events) but they came here and gave absolutely everything in terms of effort, commitment and resilience to make sure we got something.

“Hopefully that will give us something to build on but it is vital that we do just that in the next few games.”
