Crawley fear that Lanre Oyebanjo could be facing an extended spell on the sidelines.

Oyebanjo missed the 1-1 draw at Oldham Athletic on Saturday after limping out of the 2-1 JP Trophy defeat against Gillingham last Tuesday.

Reds hope to welcome back midfielder Marvin Elliott for the visit of Scunthorpe United this weekend but head coach Paul Groves admits defender Oyebanjo is unlikely to feature.

Groves said: “Hopefully we will have one or two back in for Saturday but Lanre is possibly a bit further away.

“He is a big miss as he has had some good form of late but hopefully we’ll get him back as soon as we possibly can.”

Oyebanjo’s absence means Sonny Bradley is likely to get another chance to impress as part of a three-man defence alongside Dean Leacock and Joe Walsh against Scunthorpe.

Leacock is also playing with an injury and is due to have a scan on a troublesome wrist this week.

Leacock said: “I fell on it in training.

“It has been like it for a few weeks now so I think it’s about time I had it checked out.

“It is okay sometimes and then I’ll fall on it and it starts to hurt.

“It doesn’t really trouble me most of the time but I don’t want to make it worse.”
