John Gregory hailed a passionate performance after Crawley extended their unbeaten run in League One to six games.

A fifth successive draw, this time 1-1 at home to Chesterfield, left the Reds 17th in the table but only three points above the relegation zone.

Gavin Tomlin hit Crawley’s equaliser in a cracking contest to notch his first goal for the club.

Reds boss Gregory said: “There are huge positives. It was a fantastic team effort.

“The problem we have had in the last six weeks or so is that we have had performances that lacked passion, some performances that lacked energy and fire.

“In the last six games particularly we have had a good 45 minutes and a poor second 45 minutes or vice versa.

“Against Crewe we played awful in the first half and then came out with far more passion and resolve and fought our way back into the game.

“We had it today from the first minute until the last.

“It was much better, passionate, the effort and enthusiasm we showed all over the pitch was what we wanted and we want it every week.”
