Boss John Gregory has vowed to carry on despite seeing his Crawley side drop into the relegation zone following a 4-1 defeat at fellow strugglers Leyton Orient.

Reds have now gone ten games without a win after two goals from Chris Dagnall plus strikes from Dean Cox and David Mooney secured what was only Orient’s second home win of the season.

Jimmy Smith had made it 1-1 early in the first half but Crawley were well beaten in the end and the travelling fans at Brisbane Road called for Gregory to go in the second half.

Gregory said: “I heard them chanting my name towards the end of the match but that happens. I just carry on and keep working as hard as I can.

“After the Colchester game (on Sunday) we can sit down and prepare ourselves for the remainder of the season.

“We need to make some drastic changes. If we didn’t realise that we were in a relegation battle before today this will certainly make everybody realise the enormity of the situation.”

Despite the result Gregory felt the scoreline was harsh on Reds with Orient’s third and fourth goals coming right at the end.

Gregory added: “It flattered them a bit. They had two efforts in the first half and scored from both of them.

“They didn’t really put us under a great deal of pressure but we went in 2-1 down at half-time. The game was still there at 2-1 and I felt we were pretty comfortable but the third goal killed us.

“We made too many errors but we have to pick ourselves up. The players have to roll their sleeves up and go again in two days’ time.”
