Crawley boss Dean Saunders hopes to sign two more players before tonight’s transfer deadline.

Saunders has already signed seven players during the January window with two of his acquisitions – Anthony Wordsworth and Lee Fowler – scoring in the 2-1 win over Preston on Saturday.

The result lifted Reds off the foot of League One but Saunders says he needs to further strengthen his squad if they are to pull clear of the relegation zone.

The Reds boss has targeted a striker and a defender but admits he may have to wait until the loan window opens on Sunday to get the players he wants.

He said: “The squad is still short so I am hoping to get a couple more players in before the window shuts.

“We only had one defender on the bench on Saturday in Sonny (Bradley) and if anything happens to either of our full-backs I’d have to put Lewis (Young) or Bonzo (Bobson Bawling) there.

“I’ll be working hard all day to try to get bring in the players to fit into the formula I am working with but if I don’t then the loan window opens again.”
