Crawley boss Dean Saunders is keen to do more transfer business business following the arrival Mathias Pogba.

Pogba became Saunders’ eighth signing since taking over on an interim basis from John Gregory six weeks ago when he agreed a contract until the end of the season yesterday.

The former Wrexham and Crewe striker joins fellow new signings Darren Ward, Lewis Price, Blair Anderson, Lee Fowler, Anthony Wordsworth, Scott Dutton and Dean Morgan as Saunders attempts to guide Crawley away from the League One relegation zone.

Saunders believes Pogba will help solves Crawley’s problems in front of goal this season but will now turn his attention to strengthening his midfield once the loan window opens next Tuesday.

The Reds boss said: “The squad is getting stronger all the time and Mathias will give us increased competition for places up front but I still think we are a bit short in midfield.

“We’ve got Anthony (Wordsworth), Marvin (Elliott), Jimmy (Smith) and Lee (Fowler) but we could do with one more in there with Conor (Henderson) and Josh (Simpson) both likely to be injured for quite a while still.

“I’ve got some irons in the fire but it is just a case of getting the right type of player at a price we can afford.”
