Boss Dean Saunders has been told he must offload players before he can make any further signings.

Saunders has already added eight players to the squad he inherited from John Gregory at the end of December but is keen to bring in another midfielder when the loan window opens tomorrow.

Only three players – Charles Banya, Ryan Richefond and Bradley Isaacs – have left the club on loan with chief executive Michael Dunford admitting Saunders has used up the majority of his budget.

Dunford said: “I don’t think we will be doing much business when the loan window opens. Dean wanted a striker as his main priority and we got one in (Mathias Pogba) last week so that is likely to be it.

“There is a possibility Dean will bring in one more but for that to happen I do think that players will have to go out first.”

Banya moved to Woking on loan last month in a deal which saw Dean Morgan come to the Checkatrade.com Stadium while first-year pros Richefond and Isaacs have joined Ryman League outfits Leatherhead and Worthing respectively.
