Boss Dean Saunders labelled Crawley’s performances as “embarrassing” as they crashed to their heaviest home defeat for 15 years.

Reds conceded four goals in a disastrous second half against Doncaster Rovers while also having skipper Joe Walsh sent off.

Saunders admitted it could have been even worse with goalkeeper Lewis Price making a number of good saves to limit the damage.

Andy Butler gave Rovers the lead seven minutes before the break with the floodgates opening after half-time as Richie Wellens, Nathan Tyson, Harry Forrester and Curtis Main all found the net.

The interim Reds boss said: “I am very disappointed so I have to be careful not to say something outrageous.

“But it was embarrassing for everyone involved at the club as we were hanging on from about the fifth minute really.

“I have to come out and explain it to the media, to the owners and to the supporters but the players need to look at their own performances because it wasn’t good enough.

“We were outclassed but I’ve got to try to pick them up off the floor ready for Saturday (at home against Barnsley).

“At least we have got another game coming up quickly and I will be looking for a reaction because that was nowhere near good enough.”
