Lee Fowler has called for Crawley players to show big hearts to save the club from relegation.

The Reds suffered a second harsh defeat on the trot when they lost 2-1 at home to runaway League One leaders Bristol City on Saturday.

It followed a 1-0 reverse at sixth-placed Bradford City last Tuesday.

This latest loss leaves Crawley second from bottom and two points from safety ahead of a more favourable set of fixtures, starting with a visit this Saturday to a Colchester side one place ahead of them in the table.

Midfielder Fowler, who was man-of-the-match against Bristol City, said: “This is the business end of the season now. This is where the real characters step up and you need people to all buy into it.

“Yes, we have lost two games on the bounce but I’m not disappointed by it.

“We have lost six points but the manner of the way we have lost them, both the fans and the players will be proud of how we played against two top teams.

“One is sixth and one top of the league – and both games we should have won. Now we must go to Colchester, take three points off them.”
