Anthony Wordsworth has urged Crawley to do it for Dean today.

Dean Saunders has helped turn Crawley’s fortunes around since taking over as interim manager from John Gregory at the end of December.

Reds dropped back into the bottom four after Tuesday’s 5-0 thrashing at Walsall and realistically need a victory against fellow strugglers Notts County at the Checkatrade.com to keep their hopes of avoiding relegation alive.

Wordsworth plays the final game of his loan spell from Ipswich today and is desperate to repay Saunders for rescuing him from the wilderness at Portman Road.

He said: “I’ve loved everything about being at Crawley.

“I’m really glad I came here as it’s been great to work with the manager.

“He is different class and I’m just hoping we stay up as he deserves it more than anything.”

Wordsworth is out of contract at Ipswich in the summer and has hinted he would be interested in joining Reds on a permanent basis – but only if they remain in League One.

“I’ll definitely be leaving Ipswich but as yet I’m not sure where I’ll be going,” he added.

“If Crawley stay up we can probably try to sort something out but I don’t really want to drop from the Championship into League Two.”
