Crawley are set to offer goalkeeper Callum Preston a deal.

Boss Mark Yates is keen to secure the services of the 19-year-old after he impressed in the 3-1 defeat to Fulham on Saturday.

Yates wants the former Wales under-19 international – who was released by Birmingham at the end of last season – to act as back-up to a more experienced keeper who is due to sign on loan later this week.

Reds currently do not have any goalkeepers on their books following the departure of Brian Jensen at the end of last season.

Yates said: “I knew Callum was a good keeper but I probably didn’t realise how good until Saturday.

“We have found another keeper but we have just not got him in to sign a contract yet. Hopefully later in the week or maybe by the weekend we’ll have something to announce.”

Preston is set to start again in the friendly against Albion on Wednesday but Yates has ended his interest in Wolves defender Ben O’Hanlon and has lined-up another left-back on loan.

Ryan Richefond – who was training with Reds despite being released at the end of last season – has also been told he will not be offered a deal.
