Boss Mark Yates admitted he was poised to substitute Rhys Murphy just before he sparked Crawley Town's comeback victory against Luton Town.
Yates was set to bring on Shamir Fenelon for Murphy when the on-loan Oldham striker nodded home a cross from Gwion Edwards to cancel out Cameron McGeehan's first half goal.
Murphy also played a part in Matt Harrold's 81st minute winner as Crawley secured back-to-back wins for the first time since March.
Yates said: "I was just about to make a substitution and take Rhys off which shows how good a manager I am!
"In the first half we struggled to get into their half but we showed great character to bounce back.
"We played with tempo, desire and energy in the second half and that is exactly how I want this team to play. I felt the goal was coming and that if we got one we could go on and win the game."
