Mark Yates reckons Dagenham and Redbridge are facing a "perilous" Cup trip to Sussex.

But he expects his Crawley side to make the first part of their double bill in the county pretty uncomfortable too - and get back on track in League Two.

Reds have had two weeks to reflect on a pair of defeats, albeit to decent sides, which brought their rise up the table to an abrupt end.

But a trio of games against sides below them in the table, starting at home to the Daggers tomorrow, offers chance to nip any poor run in the bud.

They also face Stevenage and Barnet before Christmas.

Yates believes there are good reasons why his side went down to Northampton and Carlisle - and why they can return to the form which brought them 16 points from the seven fixtures before that.

The Reds boss told The Argus: "We probably weren't as good with our delivery in both games we lost - the balls into our strikers, the balls out to our wide players.

"We probably just lacked a bit of quality.

"There were reasons for that, reasons why the opposition did very did well against us.

"We did not start particularly badly against Northampton.

"They just picked us off at the right moment, got a penalty and then for about 15 minutes they were excellent.

"We weren't quite as good as them on the day.

"Carlisle was a bit different. We didn't start well at all.

"The coach journey was nine-and-half hours on the Friday and it was that sort of performance.

"We looked bullied from the first minute to the last.

"We didn't handle the conditions well, we didn't handle their players well and we got well and truly beaten.

"But we stuck at it. There are not too many times of late I can say we have been bullied all over the pitch.

"We have dropped down a place or two and dropped a couple of points off where we want to be but they were both tough games against teams with bigger resources than ourselves, bigger squads, managers who have been in place longer and have been able to build their own squads and have taken time over it.

"We haven't been despondent with the players at all.

"We were disappointed against Carlisle but we have worked extremely hard improving things to be ready for Saturday."

Yates watched Dagenham struggle to a 1-1 draw with Whitehawk which sets up a replay at the Enclosed Ground on Wednesday.

He said: "I've seen Dagenham three or four times and it will be a tough game. They endured a bit of a tough game that day but that's for them to worry about.

"They have got their own things to deal with - and a nice thing in terms of they could be in the third round of the FA Cup.

"They have got a perilous tie away at Whitehawk but they have also got to come here and we have got to make sure we ask questions of them.

"We have got to make sure we do what we do best.

"If we do that we will give most teams a game in this division."

Simon Walton serves a one-game ban after his fifth booking of the seasons at Brunton Park but, other than long-term absentees, Yates reports no other problems.

Luke Rooney or Ross Jenkins will come into midfield and Yates is intrigued to se how the chosen one fares.

He said: "Simon has got to hope that we win but not so well that he can't get his place back!

"We've got people like Luke Rooney and Ross Jenkins waiting in the wings who have been desperate for that chance.

"Sometimes they get it through different reasons - loss of form, suspension or whatever else.

"One of them will get his chance and I'm looking forward to seeing him play."
