Simon Walton hopes Stevenage fans appreciate the part he played in helping their side reach the League Two play-offs.
But the Crawley midfielder won’t be too worried if they boo him at the Checkatrade.com Stadium today.
Walton is among a handful of Reds players with Stevenage connections.
He admits his one season with Borough ended on a bitter note with semi-final defeat to Southend.
But, asked what sort of reception he expected ahead of the Boxing Day reunion, Walton told The Argus: “I did nothing wrong.
“I was captain of a team who got to the play-off semi-finals.
“Obviously they would rather we had gone up but I was only there for a year.
“The way it ended was not nice for anybody with the change in personnel they had.
“I did nothing wrong but they are not going to build a statue of me!
“I’d like to think the reception will be normal but you never know in football.”
