Boss Mark Yates spoke of his pride after Crawley Town sunk Cambridge United 1-0 in atrocious conditions at the Checkatrade.com Stadium.
Matt Harrold scored the only goal of a scrappy game nine minutes before half-time to earn Reds a seventh win in their last eight home league games.
Yates said: "That is the proudest I have been of the team. This week has been a bit of a shambles as we have only had 11 outfield players training and haven't been able to get on the training pitch.
"But the players haven't moaned once and they were magnificent today. It wasn't free-flowing football but in the conditions the players were superb.
"I thought we thoroughly deserved it. We were better than Cambridge in every department."
