Crawley Town have released five players as new boss Dermot Drummy begins the rebuilding job at the League Two outfit.

Andy Bond, Lee Barnard, Roarie Deacon, Lyle Della-Verde and Callum Preston have been told they will not be offered new deals this summer.

Discussions with a further nine out-of-contract players are continuing with a further announcement from the club expected shortly.

Drummy said: "I have only been with the club for a couple of weeks but the attitude of all the players has been first-class and I wish the five lads who have been released all the best for the future and thank them for their efforts at the club “We have a further nine players who are out of contract, some of whom have already gone on holiday, so discussions are ongoing and announcements will be made soon.”

The players who are still waiting to hear about their futures are Sonny Bradley, Jon Ashton, Lanre Oyebanjo, Lewis Young, Bobson Bawling, Gavin Tomlin, Shamir Fenelon and Matt Harrold.

With Jack Rose, Liam McAlinden, Charles Dunne, Frankie Sutherland and Josh Yorwerth returning to their respective clubs at the end of their loan spells it means Drummy currently only has three players on contract for next season.

He added: “I’d like to thank all the lads who have been here on loan for their efforts. Some have played a big part for us this season and I wish them well for their respective futures.

“The process of bringing in new faces is already underway, both at home and abroad, and I am confident of recruiting the right players to take this club forward next season.”
