Lewis Young has agreed a new deal with Crawley Town - with Matt Harrold expected to follow.

But midfielder Simon Walton has been told he is free to find a new club.

Reds boss Dermot Drummy revealed he will look to use the versatile Young as an attack-minded full-back next season.

Drummy said: "I think he has the ability to get forward, he's got great endurance and we will be working him in pre-season with full-back in mind.

"He's another player who I think can improve. We can work on his defending.

"I want two people vying for each position so the player who has the shirt knows he has competition for his place."

Drummy sees Jimmy Smith, who signed a new deal this week, as his midfield leader and possible captain.

That leaves Walton potentially surplus to requirements.

The former Leeds midfielder remains under contract but Drummy said he had had "an honest chat" with the player and told him he was free to seek a new club.
