Striker Matt Harrold has signed a new one-year contract at Crawley Town.

Harrold follows Jimmy Smith, Lewis Young and Bobson Bawling in penning new deals since the end of the season.

The 31-year-old was Crawley's top scorer last season with nine goals and head coach Dermot Drummy is pleased to secure his services for another season with an option of a further year.

Drummy said: "I’m delighted to have persuaded Matt to be part of what we are trying to achieve at the club next season.

“Even before I came to Crawley I had watched him several times and I know what he can bring. He can handle himself physically, which all strikers need to be able to do, but his touch and positional and team play is excellent.

“I know he is a popular player with the fans and I’m sure if we provide him with the right quality service he will score lots of goals for us.”

Harrold joined Crawley from Bristol Rovers two years ago and has made 62 appearances in total, scoring ten goals.

He said: “I had to weigh up a lot of things at the end of the season but from speaking to Dermot I sense the club is heading in the right direction, on and off the pitch.

“I enjoyed last season and it was a shame I missed games at the end but I had the op and my knee is absolutely fine. We’re putting together a good squad and I can’t wait for pre-season to meet the new lads and catch up with the boys who are here from last season.”
