Crawley Town grabbed an injury time equaliser through Karlan Ahearne-Grant in a frantic finale against Morecambe today at the Checkatrade Stadium.

The Reds looked like they would be victims of a smash and grab raid today after Morecambe substitute Callum Lang raced through in the first minute of added time to clip the ball past Glenn Morris.

But the Reds threw everyone forward and Ahearne-Grant tucked away at the far post after Dannie Bulman’s cross from the right.

It was a setback in Reds' bid to reach the League Two play-offs as they dropped their first points at home since December but a welcome point after they looked as if they would be punished for spurning a host of chances to win the game before the thrilling finish.

Enzio Boldewijn scuffed a tame shot straight at Barry Roche in the fourth minute after the ball fell for him to have a first sight of goal.

Reds, again playing without a recognised centre-forward after using the tactic against Saltdean in the Senior Cup in midweek, tried to build from the back.

A ninth-minute Gregg Wylde effort was almost spilled by Reds keeper Morris, who unconvincingly pushed the powerful strike out for a corner.

Ahearne-Grant was played in by Mark Randall but his inviting pullback went right across the box and was cleared for a corner in the 20th minute.

The Shrimps then scrambled the corner clear as nobody could get a touch as the ball dropped inside the six-yard box.

Josh Doherty whipped over an inviting cross after 29 minutes which Sam Lavelle hacked clear from inside his six-yard area as Reds looked dangerous when they worked the ball wide.

Boldewijn blazed over cutting inside after being set free by an excellent diagonal ball from the back as the Reds went more direct.

Morecambe’s Kevin Ellison appealed for a penalty after going down under challenge from Young chasing a throughball into the box but referee Malone was well placed to wave away the claim by the visitors on a rare incursion behind the home defence.

A set-piece looked their best option of a goal, but Adam McGurk was unable to get any direction on a far post header after a Michael Rose long throw was flicked on approaching half-time.

Jimmy Smith had a curling strike punched away by Roche three minutes after the break and from the follow up cross from the left Boldewijn was unable to get his header on target at full stretch.

Harry Kewell introduced striker Panutche Camara for Randall just after the hour in a bid to find a goal.

Crawley opened up the visitors on 65 minutes but full-back Young’s low strike from inside the area was blocked by Ellison after neat approach play.

Ahearne-Grant was denied the opener when he was teed up to rifle towards goal from 12 yards but Lavelle produced an excellent block.

Josh Payne was the next to go close for Reds, flashing a volley wide from outside the box with ten minutes to go.

Smith had a glorious chance to puts Crawley ahead when Boldewijn rolled the ball into his path in the area but he clipped his shot over the bar with six minutes to go.

But Morecambe almost took the lead within seconds after Andrew Fleming’s long range dipping strike came off the underside bar and hit the back of Morris before the visitors were flagged offside as they tried to force the loose ball home.

Sub Lang then pounced on a header to race clear and finish for what looked like all three points.

Reds equalised in the third minute of injury time when Ahearne-Grant fired home at the far post after Bulman’s cross came right through the centre of the penalty area.
