Wright is raring to go again
Luke Wright insists he is raring to go after making a surprise return to action for Sussex.
The England all-rounder, left, made 29 and bowled four overs for Sussex in their 2nd XI clash with Kent at Arundel Castle yesterday after recovering from a mystery illness.
Wright’s stint with Pune Warriors in the IPL was cut short when he went down with a suspected case of Dengue Fever on top of tonsillitis two weeks ago.
He was not due to return from India until the CB40 game against Yorkshire next Thursday but is now expected to feature in the one-day match against Northamptonshire on Sunday.
Wright said: “It got to the stage I was never going to be right to play in the final game for Pune (against Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday) so they agreed I could stay. Pune have already been knocked out so it would have been a long way to go so hopefully I can play my part for Sussex instead.
“I’m feeling pretty good now. I was in bed for four or five days and felt horrendous so it is just a case of getting my energy back.
“I spoke with Robbo (coach Mark Robinson) and we both felt it was a touch early to play in the first team game at Worcestershire (which also started yesterday) but hopefully I’ll be ready for Sunday.
“Playing for the second team is quite a contrast to the IPL but it was good to be back.”
