Sussex are close to completing a second new signing of the winter.
The county have let four players go since the end of last season – Andrew Hodd, Murray Goodwin, Naved Arif and Will Adkin – but so far have only brought in Rory Hamilton-Brown from Surrey.
Coach Mark Robinson is happy to operate with a smaller squad – especially as Hodd, Arif and Adkin rarely featured last season – but wants to bolster his seam bowling options, with Chris Jordan rumoured to be a possible target following his release by Surrey in September.
Meanwhile Robinson expects to be without all-rounder Luke Wright for the start of the season for the third year in a row.
Wright missed the start of the 2011 campaign with injury and was playing in the IPL last year for Pune Warriors.
Wright only made one appearance for Pune who have yet to confirm they will be taking up the second year of his deal but Robinson is planning to be without the England star for the first month.
