Steve Magoffin became the first bowler to take 50 wickets in division one of the County Championship this season as Sussex wrapped up Warwickshire’s innings before tea on the second day at Horsham.
Magoffin achieved the feat for the third season in a row when he had Keith Barker caught at first slip by Chris Jordan for nine.
Jordan also picked up the wicket of Rikki Clarke as Warwickshire slipped from 247-6 at lunch to 266-8 in reply to Sussex’s first innings total of 413.
But a partnership of 60 between Jeetan Patel (32) – who became Magoffin’s 51st wicket – and Chris Woakes (39 not out) helped Warwickshire reach 333 and limit their deficit to 80.
